Our Mission
At After Laughter, our primary focus is to challenge and dispel the stigmas surrounding mental health. We are committed to informing individuals about these stigmas and their profound effects. Our approach encompasses two fundamental objectives: to empower those navigating mental health challenges by fostering openness about treatment and experiences, and to educate individuals who have not encountered mental illness directly.
For those facing mental health struggles, our aim is to empower them to transcend the stigma, encouraging candid discussions about their treatment and journey. Simultaneously, our goal is to enlighten individuals who may not have encountered mental health challenges directly. We strive to promote equality between physical and mental illness, advocating for a shift in dialogue and understanding. Additionally, we offer guidance on how to support friends or loved ones when they may be experiencing difficulties with their mental health.
Understanding that many individuals who have not personally grappled with mental illness may not proactively seek information, we have designed our approach to reach them indirectly. We recognize the power of engaging events to deliver our message effectively. Therefore, we curate diverse and enjoyable events tailored to resonate with the interests and passions of young people in New Zealand. Whether through music, art, sports, hobbies, or any other activities that captivate the youth, we aim to create engaging platforms to shed light on mental health topics.
Our events serve as an opportunity for young people to come together, have fun, and, in doing so, spark important conversations about mental health. Through these interactive and vibrant gatherings, we aim to break barriers, normalize discussions, and create a community where mental health is understood, embraced, and supported.
